Holiday Giveaway - Share Your Favorite Holiday Recipe and Win 20 5x7" Nikki Burnette Fantasy Art Prints!!

Thanks to a very kind donation from a very special person, I am having a HUGE holiday giveaway again this year! This is always a time of year where I like to give back to all my fans who support me throughout the year. I try to have a giveaway each year, but thanks to a generous donation I can make this year even bigger and better!

How To Enter:

This giveaway will take place on my blog. All entries must be posted underneath this blog post to be considered for the contest. If you don't have an account with which to post with, I have allowed annonymous posts, but please list your name and email address so I know who to contact if you win!

To enter, simply post your favorite holiday recipe below! You can either post the whole recipe or link to another site where your favorite recipe is located. If you're not big into cooking and recipes, just tell me what your favorite holiday treat is. No need to get super descriptive if you don't want to. A simple "sugar cookies with sprinkles" is just fine with me. I thought this might be a really fun way to exchange recipes and yummy holiday treat ideas!

What You Win:

The person who wins this giveaway will receive TWENTY of my 5x7" prints!! This giveaway's retail value is $160!! Not only is it a great value, but it's a fantastic way to expand your art collection or start a new collection. I really love the 5x7" print size because they look so good displayed together in a grouping on a wall.

You will receive all FOUR of my holiday themed prints including: Shanna, Elana, Neva and Belle. Then for the remaining 16 prints, you can choose any ones that you want! You can pick from my entire gallery here.

You have from now until December 23rd at midnight EST to enter! On Saturday, December 24th, I will announce the winner. The winner will be chosen randomly. Your recipe or what you write will have no bearing on who wins the contest. I will write all the names down and choose one from a slip at random! Your items will be shipped the first week of January 2012.

In the top right hand corner of your screen, there should be a box that says "follow by email." If you type your email address in that box, you will receive a notification when I announce the winner! You will also receive notifications when I make other blog posts, so you can stay up to date with other contests, giveaways and news about my art!

Thanks to everyone who supports my artwork! Your support means the world to me and I am just so thankful for all of my friends and fans. I hope you enjoy the giveaway and have a wonderful holiday season!

Linework for New Painting + Winner of Naming Contest

Wow! I have to say that you all have outdone yourselves this time with this naming contest. There were so many names suggested and they were all so beautiful. It was definitely hard to decide which name to choose.

I decided to name my newest piece Cheyanna. I just think the name is so beautiful and fits the piece perfectly! Congratulations to Michelle Butler who suggested the name!! Michelle, please contact me at to claim your 5x7" print of the finished piece!

This linework was quite time consuming to complete as the piece is so intricate with many different lines. I'm so happy that it's done so that I can move on to the next part of the process! I will transfer the lines to my final watercolor paper and ink them with brown ink. Then I get to start painting it! I'm very excited to work on this piece and will of course share pictures with you all along the way.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in my naming contest!

New Fairy with Foxes Sketch - Naming Contest!

Wow it's been awhile since I posted some new sketches!! I was looking back in my archives and my last sketch was posted in July...geez. Thanks for being so patient with me! The past few months have been super busy with shows sometimes back to back. Things are just now settling down a bit, though the holiday rush is coming up soon. So I'm trying to squeeze in a new painting before that all begins!

I have a brand new sketch to share with you all tonight that I'm really excited about. I wanted to create another fall piece this year. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, so I really like to make at least a couple fall pieces per year. I wanted to make a piece with animals, and when I was thinking about autumn and animals, foxes instantly popped into my head. Their coats display the beautiful shades of fall. Plus I think they are such mystical creatures. I thought they would be paired perfectly with a fairy perched atop some fallen trees in a forest. I plan to create this painting in the colors of fall and hopefully I will finish it before winter is here! =)

But, she needs a name! I will be having another one of my naming contests for her. Please make sure to read all the rules before suggesting a name.

The person who suggests the name I select will win a 5x7" print of the finished piece! Anyone around the world can play, you can submit multiple names and you can also play if you have already won one of my naming contests.

I can no longer run my contests and giveaways on Facebook. I have set my blog to allow anonymous posts, so if you don't have an account to post with, post anonymously, but please post your name as well so I know who is suggesting the names.

This is important!!
I cannot contact the winners through Facebook. You must keep an eye on my blog to see when I make the announcement of who won the contest. At that point, I will ask you to email me your mailing address. Please make sure to watch for the winners, so that you know if you have won! I will be unable to contact you otherwise. If you want to make sure to not miss the announcement, you can now subscribe to my blog by typing your email address in the top right hand corner of my blog. You will then be emailed each time I post a new blog. Thank you so much and I can't wait to see the names!! =)

The pose for this piece is referenced from the absolutely gorgeous stock of Elandria. If you are an artist or an art admirer, you should definitely have a look at her stock. It is so inspirational and beautiful art in and of itself. =)

Sparkle!: A New Home for My Art

I wanted to let you all know about a new retail home for my prints and many of my products! One question I get at my shows quite often is, "Where do you sell your merchandise in the area?" Well, now I'm happy to say that I have someplace local that carries many of my different goodies!

The shop is called Sparkle! and it is right in downtown Lawrenceville. If you haven't been to downtown Lawrenceville, you should definitely check it out if you're local to the area. There are many unique stores and restaurants that you just can't find anywhere else. And Sparkle! is definitely one of those stores!

Sparkle! carries many unique, handmade items. They have a huge handmade jewelry selection to choose from as well as many other fantastic items like art, cards, hair accessories and more. They support many local artisans by featuring them and their artwork. Every piece has a story behind it and I just love that. They even host jewelry making parties! It's a very fun store to browse and find just the perfect gift for someone.

So, I'm very honored that Sparkle! has utilized a portion of their store to display my prints and products! Right now, Sparkle! has a huge selection of my ACEO prints, 5x7 Prints, 8x10 Prints, Hand Cut Stickers, Sticker Sheets, Bookmarks, Greeting Cards, Postcard Sets and Framed Prints. So, if you prefer to shop in a store rather than buy online, definitely go check Sparkle! out to see my selection of merchandise!

Publix Apron's Simple Meals

One goal of mine is to cook more often! I don't make eating well and cooking healthy meals enough of a priority. It seems like I put all my extra energy and effort into my artwork and art business. I just can't seem to find any energy leftover for normal things like eating well and cooking. When I do go grocery shopping, I just sort of wander around and grab things that look good. Then when it's dinner time, I don't ever have the right things on hand to make a meal, so my husband and I end up going out to eat or grabbing fast food. But I know that needs to change! And I'm definitely going to try. =)

I recently found something at Publix, my local grocery store, that helps me so much. They have a program called Publix Apron's Simple Meals. Each week they feature a different recipe at the front of the store. They sometimes have someone cooking the meal so you can try it and they also have a free recipe card that you can take with you. The best part is, they put all the ingredients you need to make the meal up front. So you just grab everything you need from one display and you're out the door! The recipes are also really super easy to make. But there's still enough cooking to do so that you feel like you made a nice home cooked meal.

The recipe cards also suggest sides and desserts to accompany the meal. I love this part, because I feel that I always grab the same old side dishes to make all the time. So it adds a lot of variety to our normal routine.

My husband and I have already tried quite a few different meals and we've enjoyed all of them!

First we tried Meatball Marinara Sliders with Pasta Salad and French Fries. Next was Country Fried Steak with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes. And our last recipe we tried was my favorite: Brats in a Blanket with German Potato Salad. I had never tried Brats before and now I actually like them more than hot dogs. And the German Potato salad was very delicious!

For those of you watching your calorie intake or other nutritional values, all of the stats are listed right on the menu card. For instance, I am watching my calories, so on days where we try a menu that's a little heavier on the calories (like the Country Fried Steak meal), I cut back on my portion size. It makes it super easy to figure out what you're eating.

I can't wait to try out our next meal! I think the next one is going to be Roasted Garlic and Potato Soup with Ham and Cheese Pinwheels.

I'm also thinking about starting to take pictures of all the meals! I'm always so proud when I plate everything up lol. Anyways, I just thought I'd share this little tip in case any of you have a Publix nearby and are scraped for time like I am (who isn't these days?). I definitely recommend giving these meals a try. =)
