Weekly Wrap-Up #9!

I have so many exciting things to share with you all this week! I'm having a HUGE giveaway for the holiday season, I have also released my Angelique products this week, HAED has come out with 3 new Christmas cross stitch designs and I have picked a name for my Candy Cane Witch!

Win a FREE 8x10" Original Commissioned Painting!!

I am so absolutely thrilled to tell you all about a HUGE giveaway that I'm fortunate to be having this month! A very generous person has donated money for me to paint an 8x10" commissioned painting to give away to one of you lucky people! This person wishes to remain anonymous, but if you'd like to thank this person for the opportunity, please leave your comments here and I will make sure they receive them. =)

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BELOW BEFORE ENTERING! THANK YOU! =)

To Enter - Tell Me Your Favorite Holiday Tradition

To have a chance to win an 8x10" commissioned painting painted by me, Nikki Burnette, simply make a post on my Facebook note here telling me what your favorite holiday tradition is. It doesn't have to be a Christmas tradition. It can be any holiday that you celebrate any time of the year. Please only post one time. Multiple entries will not be counted. To make it easy to keep track of everyone, please only post on this note. If you email me, message me or contact me in any other way, I will send you a response requesting that you post to this note.

The deadline to enter is December 22nd at Midnight PST. On December 23rd, I will randomly select one person who has posted on this note and announce the winner!

What You Win - 8x10" Commissioned Painting

I will paint an 8x10" commissioned painting for the person that wins! This will be absolutely free, no shipping costs, no deposits...free! The painting will be painted in watercolor and ink. Please have an idea of what my style is before entering this giveaway. I paint fantasy women, usually fairies, mermaids, witches, vampires, steampunks, etc... I don't feel comfortable doing exact portraits of someone, but can make the figure resemble someone by choosing the correct skin color, eye color, hair color, etc...

Please also keep in mind the size of the painting when thinking about what you'd like me to paint. I can usually fit in one figure and one creature/animal or several creatures/animals if they're smaller. I will talk more to the winner about the commission process, but to get a general idea, you can view the description on my Custom Paintings here.

I will begin work on the winner's commissioned painting at the beginning of January. It usually takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months for me to finish a commission. Please keep in mind that I retain all rights to the commissioned painting, including reproduction rights.

Thank you to everyone who enters! I look forward to reading about your traditions. =) If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me! =)

Angelique - New Original Painting For Sale on eBay

I just wrapped up a brand new painting! My newest piece is titled Angelique and it depicts a haunting and beautiful vampire fairy sitting inside a creepy cemetery, surrounded by skulls and a dragon friend. The night sky is painted in brilliant shades of blue and black with a bright moon overhead. Angelique's outfit and striped stockings are done in various shades of red and black.

She measures 8x10" and is painted with watercolor and ink. She's up for a 10 day auction on eBay with a starting bid of only $99.99!! Also included is a free ACEO print of Angelique. I really hope that you all enjoy her and thank you so much for looking! =)

New Heaven And Earth Designs Cross Stitch Releases

Heaven and Earth Designs is the company that licenses my artwork to make cross stitch charts. They have just released two new charts featuring Arden and Telsa!

View my new Arden and Telsa cross stitch charts here.

New Christmas Witch Sketch and Naming Contest

This week I also drew up a brand new sketch for Christmas! The sketch features a witch riding on a candy cane through a forest of decorated, snow covered evergreen trees. I thought since it was for Christmas, I'd swap out her broom for a candy cane! She seems to be enjoying it. =)

Now that she's all drawn out...she needs a name! I'm having a naming contest for her, like I have for most of my pieces. All you have to do is choose a name that you think fits her best and post it either here or on my Facebook page. You can find her sketch under my "Wall Photos." In a few days, I will choose a name for her and the person that suggested that name will win a 5x7" print of the finished piece!

She is up next to be painted and I will hopefully have her done by the end of this coming weekend and up for sale in time for Christmas. =)

This coming week is sure to be as busy as this past week! My Christmas shipping rush is in full force, so I'm making products like a mad-woman and trying to keep up. I'm also going to try and wrap up the candy cane witch painting so that you all can enjoy her before Christmas. We're also going to try and do some Christmas shopping too! Should be a lot of fun. =)

I also wanted to tell you all that I am going to have a HUGE and I mean HUGE Christmas giveaway! I should be making the announcement this week, so stay tuned to my Facebook page for more details!

I just wrapped up my latest painting called Tracey. It was a commissioned painting and my client requested a purple fairy with cats. It was a super fun painting to work on and I really hope you all enjoy her!

The original is of course sold already, but Tracey will soon be available on prints of all sizes and my whole range of products. I hope to get everything listed sometime this week!

Weekly Wrap-Up #6!

I'm so excited because I have a brand new painting to share with you all this week! I finished painting Zoe and I just love the way she turned out. I know Halloween is over, but I think you can celebrate Halloween year round! I just love witches, pumpkins and everything Halloween related, so I tend to paint them all the time.

Zoe was a very fun piece to work on. She is a very fun, spunky, flirty witch depicted inside a pumpkin. Jack-o-lanterns surround her on the crisp, fall night and her owl friend is flying over head. There is also a tiny kitty hidden inside a pumpkin! Her outfit is decorated with stripes, stars and moons and painted in shades of brilliant hot pink, purple and black. I think my favorite part is her hair which is two-toned in shades of hot pink and black!

The original painting measures 8x10" and is up for sale on eBay for a 10-day auction. The starting bid is only $99.99! I really hope that you all enjoy her and will perhaps even consider adding her to your collection. =)

I also have other very exciting news! My 2011 calendar is 40% off through the end of November! It is available through Zazzle and features some of my favorite paintings from this year including Arden, Telsa and Cassandra. Just use coupon code: 40CLNDRS2011 when checking out to receive your 40% off!

My 2011 calendar features 12 different images than my 2010 calendar. So if you haven't purchased the 2010 yet, you could scoop that one up too and receive 40% off that one as well. Even though the year is almost over, you can use the tops of the calendars as prints! It'd be a very cheap way to collect 12 of my images.

Weekly Wrap-Up #5!

This has been an incredibly busy week! A lot of the things I've been working on this week have not yet been completed. They are still in the works and will hopefully make it onto next week's wrap-up. But I still have some things to share with you all that I'm really excited about!

I'm so excited to tell you all about a brand new product of mine that is now available! You can now purchase necklaces with matching gift tins featuring my artwork! They are available in my Etsy store here.

These are 1" circular tray pendants and they're available in 4 different setting colors: shiny silver, vintage copper, vintage bronze and gunmetal black. You can choose from 56 different images! They come with a matching 18" ball and chain necklace. You even get a small matching gift tin featuring your image choice! They're priced at only $16.00 for the pendant, chain and gift tin. I also wanted to tell you all about a huge giveaway I'm having to celebrate my 500th sale on Etsy!! I currently have 488 sales on Etsy (you can see the number on my main shop page on the left hand side under Shop Info). The person that purchases my 500th item will receive FIVE FREE items of their choosing from my store!! You can choose any product and any image -excluding- originals, sketches and limited edition prints...but anything else is up for grabs!

Keep in mind that a "sale" on Etsy counts as one item purchased. So technically if you bought 12 items right now, you would purchase the 500th item and win the five free items! But keep an eye on it in the next few days because if someone doesn't purchase all the items right now, you may be able to scoop up the free items by just purchasing a few. I'll be sure to make a post on my Facebook page when someone purchases the 500th item so that you all know!

I just wanted to do this giveaway as a huge thank you to all my fans and supporters of my artwork! I also wanted to say thanks to everyone who has purchased from my Etsy store since I opened it way back in 2007. =)

If you have any questions about the contest, please ask me! Good luck and have fun!! Hopefully this will be a great opportunity for you all to get some nice stocking stuffers for Christmas. =)

Weekly Wrap-Up #4!

Hi everyone! This weekly wrap-up is sort of a two-weekly wrap-up. Since I was on vacation last week, I wasn't able to post one. So, I will try and catch you up with everything that has been going on in the past couple weeks!

Interview on the Zazzle Fantasy Art Blog

First, I wanted to tell you all about an interview that I did for the Zazzle Fantasy Art Blog. This blog promotes Fantasy Artists on Zazzle, so I was thrilled at the opportunity to be a featured artist and do an interview for them. They asked me all sorts of questions about how I got started doing fantasy art, my artistic training background, my painting process, and much more. They also featured several items from my Zazzle store and a few of my favorite paintings. They posted it in two parts, so be sure to read Part 1 followed by Part 2, both linked below. I hope you all enjoy it!

Karmina Fairy Card - Zazzle

Aelita and Jax Postage Stamp - Zazzle
New Tube Pack from CILM - Gwynth, Kari and Rose!

CILM has released a brand new tube pack of my artwork. This pack includes my lighthouse mermaid Gwynth, my ocean mermaid Kari and my Art Nouveau fairy Rose! You can purchase the pack of three images for only $5.00.

You can also purchase them individually for $1.85 each!

Also, keep in mind that if you're new to purchasing my tubes, you can purchase the whole set at a greatly reduced price. Right now they're offering all 13 tube packs (39 images) for only $52.00!

These tubes are fantastic for graphic lovers, because you can use them on so many different things such as avatars for Facebook and Myspace, e-cards, signatures and more!!

Name Selected for Pumpkin Witch - Zoe

I wanted to let you all know that I have selected a name for my latest painting, the pumpkin witch. I chose the name suggested by Amber Schultz, Zoe! I thought it fit the piece perfectly: fun, flirty and cute, just like the witch in the painting. Amber will win a 5x7" print of the finished piece. Thanks to everyone who participates in my naming contests and there will definitely be more in the future!

I wanted to show you Zoe with clean lines that I created in Photoshop. I create these clean lines from my rough sketch. The lines are used to transfer onto my watercolor paper for the final painting. They are also used for my coloring pages and for my rubber stamps. While time consuming, they are extremely essential to my whole painting process! I hope you all enjoy Zoe. I will hopefully be painting her soon.

New Commissioned Piece - Tracey

I also wanted to show you all my latest sketch! This is a commissioned piece and will be named Tracey. My customer requested a purple fairy with cats. The color purple, fairies and cats...being three of my favorite things...I just couldn't say no! I came up with a fairy sitting on a mushroom with three fairy kitties all around her. This was a fun one to sketch and will probably be an even more fun one to paint! I hope to be painting her this week as well along with my pumpkin witch.

The original is of course sold, but she will be available on all my prints and products and will be submitted to all of my licensing companies!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

During my last wrap-up, I told you all that I was going on vacation to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! So, I just wanted to take some time to show you a few pictures and tell you a little bit about it. Make sure to visit my Facebook page for all the pictures and information if you're interested!

This Hogsmeade sign was the first thing you saw upon entering The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! The Harry Potter section is actually just part of a much larger Universal Islands of Adventure Theme Park. The Harry Potter section is decently sized, but of course I wished it was much bigger!

Once you walk through the Hogsmeade sign, you see the Hogwarts Express which takes you on your magical journey! It doesn't actually move, but still blows smoke and makes noises. It was very cool!

After that, you get to walk through the town of Hogsmeade! They have all the stores from the books like Honeydukes, Zonkos and Dervish and Blotts. Those are the only stores you could go inside, but they had a lot of other stores that were "closed" but had really awesome storefronts. They also had an Olivanders that you could go inside and there was this little show where they picked one child who got measured for a wand. It was really cute. The stores spared no expense and had pretty much everything in the books! Honeydukes had Chocolate Frogs, Ton-Tongue Toffee, Acid-Pops and Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans!

I loved the way they designed Hogsmeade with snow covered roof tops. They even had really cool crooked chimneys. The signs all looked old and aged...just like you would imagine!

After that I had to get a Butterbeer! They had a few Butterbeer stands, but the one I posted above was by far the coolest. It looked like a giant keg! I stood in line for about 30 minutes to get my Butterbeer and that is me in front of The Three Broomsticks enjoying it! They said it tasted like a combination of shortbread and butterscotch...I thought it tasted fairly similar to a Cream Soda. Then they put this marshmellow-tasting foam on top. Yummy!

By far my favorite part was the castle, which was massive and beautiful! This is a picture of my husband and I in front of the castle. And there was actually a ride inside! But the best part was (as silly as this sounds) standing in line for the ride. They built the whole inside of the castle, greenhouse, passageways, classrooms, dormitories, wall of portraits...everything! And when you were standing in line, you wove your way around the inside. The first time we went on it, the line was too short and we zoomed through. So we had to go back and check it out when there was like a 45 minute wait to be able to enjoy it all! Below are a few pictures from inside the castle.

All in all, it was an amazing vacation and a wonderful way to celebrate my 1 year anniversary with my husband! I think it is a must-see for any Harry Potter fan. I can pretty much guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Have a wonderful week everyone! I hope to get some actual painting done this week, so I have some fun things to show you next week. =)
