Linework for New Painting + Winner of Naming Contest

Wow! I have to say that you all have outdone yourselves this time with this naming contest. There were so many names suggested and they were all so beautiful. It was definitely hard to decide which name to choose.

I decided to name my newest piece Cheyanna. I just think the name is so beautiful and fits the piece perfectly! Congratulations to Michelle Butler who suggested the name!! Michelle, please contact me at nikki@aurella-art.com to claim your 5x7" print of the finished piece!

This linework was quite time consuming to complete as the piece is so intricate with many different lines. I'm so happy that it's done so that I can move on to the next part of the process! I will transfer the lines to my final watercolor paper and ink them with brown ink. Then I get to start painting it! I'm very excited to work on this piece and will of course share pictures with you all along the way.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in my naming contest!

New Fairy with Foxes Sketch - Naming Contest!

Wow it's been awhile since I posted some new sketches!! I was looking back in my archives and my last sketch was posted in July...geez. Thanks for being so patient with me! The past few months have been super busy with shows sometimes back to back. Things are just now settling down a bit, though the holiday rush is coming up soon. So I'm trying to squeeze in a new painting before that all begins!

I have a brand new sketch to share with you all tonight that I'm really excited about. I wanted to create another fall piece this year. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, so I really like to make at least a couple fall pieces per year. I wanted to make a piece with animals, and when I was thinking about autumn and animals, foxes instantly popped into my head. Their coats display the beautiful shades of fall. Plus I think they are such mystical creatures. I thought they would be paired perfectly with a fairy perched atop some fallen trees in a forest. I plan to create this painting in the colors of fall and hopefully I will finish it before winter is here! =)

But, she needs a name! I will be having another one of my naming contests for her. Please make sure to read all the rules before suggesting a name.

The person who suggests the name I select will win a 5x7" print of the finished piece! Anyone around the world can play, you can submit multiple names and you can also play if you have already won one of my naming contests.

I can no longer run my contests and giveaways on Facebook. I have set my blog to allow anonymous posts, so if you don't have an account to post with, post anonymously, but please post your name as well so I know who is suggesting the names.

This is important!!
I cannot contact the winners through Facebook. You must keep an eye on my blog to see when I make the announcement of who won the contest. At that point, I will ask you to email me your mailing address. Please make sure to watch for the winners, so that you know if you have won! I will be unable to contact you otherwise. If you want to make sure to not miss the announcement, you can now subscribe to my blog by typing your email address in the top right hand corner of my blog. You will then be emailed each time I post a new blog. Thank you so much and I can't wait to see the names!! =)

The pose for this piece is referenced from the absolutely gorgeous stock of Elandria. If you are an artist or an art admirer, you should definitely have a look at her stock. It is so inspirational and beautiful art in and of itself. =)
